Program:
"Weit von der schönen Erde - ein Schubert-Abend" with texts by Karl Kraus, Joseph Roth, Gottfried Benn, Alfred Kerr, Kurt Tucholsky, Stefan Zweig and others.
The second round of the Musical Salons, deliberately conceived as an intimate format by baritone Georg Nigl, is a combination of song recital and reading that is a school of listening. And that sharpens the senses! Everything in the town hall's ornate fireplace room is geared towards concentration. This creates a closeness between artists and audience that is simply not possible in the large concert hall. Georg Nigl can therefore move for long stretches in a world between singing and declamation, which Alexander Gergelyfi accompanies with intuitive harmony on the clavichord - a forerunner of the fortepiano - in the most delicate and breathy phrasing imaginable. This lends the compositions a touching simplicity that harmonizes wonderfully with the selected texts, which actor Sven-Eric Bechtolf recites pointedly. After Mozart and Bach last year, Shakespeare and Schubert are now the focus of these experimental salons with their beguiling mixtures of fragile and delicate sounds - rating: particularly valuable!
