Ifeanyi C. Okolo, born in Nigeria in 1966, studied fine and applied arts there, specializing in sculpture, before coming to Germany in 1996. Today he lives and works on a farm in the Feising district (together with his family, who have lived here since 1724).
Okolo has a broad artistic background: as a sculptor with often larger-than-life, highly vertical sculptures made of wood or metal, as a painter, but also as a drumming, dance and drawing teacher.
At the center of his artistic work is the human being, in his relationship to other people, but also to nature; Okolo sees himself as a bridge builder. "My art," he says, "is for everyone." It is fitting that his first name is actually just an abbreviation: in full, it is Ifeanyichukwu, which means something like: With God, everything is possible.
Midissage on Saturday, June 22 at 6 pm in the presence of the artist. An event as part of the Laim district week.
