Nação Zumbi, founded in 1990 in Recife (Brazil), is a key figure in the manguebeat movement, which mixes traditional styles from north-eastern Brazil with rock, hip-hop and other genres. Their debut album "Da Lama ao Caos" (1994) was groundbreaking with its mixture of hard guitar riffs, innovative percussion and socially critical lyrics. The band's music deals with themes such as social inequality, cultural identity and urban life. The band is known for their energetic live performances that emphasize their eclectic sound and commitment to their roots. The band's line-up has changed over the years, but key members such as singer and guitarist Jorge Du Peixe and drummer Pupillo continue to shape the band's sound. Nação Zumbi is still active today, exploring new musical territories while remaining true to its cultural heritage.
