The Invisibles - We want to live

Berlin, 1943: The Nazi regime has officially declared the Reich capital "Judenrein" (clean of Jews). But some Jews actually manage to do the unthinkable.

They become invisible to the authorities. It is often pure luck and their youthful insouciance that saves them from the dreaded Gestapo. Only a few confidants know of their true identity.

There is Cioma Schönhaus, who secretly forges passports in an attempt to save the lives of dozens of other persecuted people. The young Hanni Lévy bleaches her hair blonde so that she can stroll along the Ku'damm unrecognized as an apparent Aryan. Eugen Friede distributes resistance leaflets at night. During the day, he hides in the uniform of the Hitler Youth and in the bosom of a German family. And then there is Ruth Gumpel, who, disguised as a war widow, serves black market delicacies to Nazi officers. They all fight for a life of freedom without really being free...

DIE UNSICHTBAREN - WIR WOLLEN LEBEN depicts a largely unknown chapter of Jewish resistance during the National Socialist era. The screenplay is based on interviews with contemporary witnesses.

The story is sensitively, oppressively and surprisingly humorously interwoven with interview excerpts and archive footage to create a dense, emotionally moving ensemble drama.
