The opera is a dangerous place - especially for women. Whether they quietly breathe their last, collapse in ecstasy, are stabbed, shot or brutally executed - all too often they die before the final curtain. But how do the tragic heroines themselves judge their own demise?

Some of these "genre victims" meet at a bar in the afterlife. Singing, talking and drinking, they tell their stories, reflect on life decisions, question their roles (and images) and confront the normal madness of eternity. With tragedy, comedy and lots of music, we take a feminist look at the dead women of the opera, including a courageous dip into the cliché box - and yet so very different from the opera guide.
