Nader und Simin - Eine Trennung

Nader and Simin sit in front of the divorce judge. It quickly becomes clear that the two love each other, it's just the circumstances that drive them apart. Simin wants a divorce so that she can leave the country with her daughter. Nader refuses to go, he doesn't want to leave his father, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, behind. When the judge refuses to grant the divorce, Simin moves back in with her parents with a heavy heart. Nader hires the young mother Razieh to care for his father. But Razieh works without the permission of her irascible and heavily indebted husband - and she is expecting another child. She is soon overwhelmed with caring for her confused father. One day, she ties the old man to his bed and leaves the apartment. When Nader finds his unconscious father, he angrily pushes Razieh out of the apartment. The next day, Nader learns that Razieh has lost her child in the fall. Did he know she was pregnant? Is Razieh telling the whole truth? A web of lies, fear and accusations spins inescapably around everyone involved... This gripping drama from Iran won the 2011 Oscar and Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
