Nadya Golski sings what she loves. Under the broad description of ”Gypsy/Eastern European”, she also throws in significant French chanson influences, singing famous songs by Edith Piaf in Balkan time signatures, with Gypsy/ Balkan melodic introductions. Occasionally she even combines some influences of her deep past; Papua New Guinea and South Pacific Islands. This, with her warm performances and soulful and deep voice, marks what she does as unique and creatively free. She sings in many different languages, including Polish, Bosnian, Serbo Croatian, French, Italian, Romany, Romanian, and even South Pacific Dialects, and finally, in English, her mother tongue.

Different parts of her life – where she has lived, her family background, and music she has loved – have all been inspiration for such a diverse and yet integral approach to her creativity.

Nadya began her career studying with the internationally renowned avant garde Gardzienice Theatre Company in Poland, after she completed highschool. She then went on to study theatre in Paris where she performed in Jazz clubs. Her debut album was entitled “Haiwe Draiva”. This album was co-written by her brother Mishka Golski, and was inspired by their childhood in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea and written in languages from the South Pacific Islands. Nadya was sent to tour Papua New Guinea and the South Pacific Islands by the Australian High Commission who combined support with other companies. The tour was a huge success and Haiwe Driva was a best seller. In this period Nadya recorded and produced two other albums: Moka and Erere. With this material, Nadya toured Khazaktahn in 1996 where she represented Australia in the Voice of Asia Festival and won the people’s choice prize.

In 2002, Nadya returned to her Eastern European influences and recorded her debut album in this field (Nadya & Giga’s 101 Candles Orkestra) which she launched at the Sydney Opera House to packed audiences. Since then she has produced Crazy Moon, Mezza Luna, Nadya et Ses amis à Paris and Presque Francaise in the same genre (Eastern European /Jazz /Chanson /Latin) and has co produced Heaven and Other Places which is mostly sung in English and partly in French and purely in the genre of adult contemporary / Soul / Jazz.
