The photographer finds inspiration for his works in botanical gardens and parks, especially in the USA, where New York-born Lawrence Beck still lives. He focuses on individual plants and crops and observes them in their surroundings. He pays particular attention to the botanical labels he finds, an important compositional element in his pictures. He also refers to the plants' habitus and structures. You can get the impression that you are looking at a botanical textbook. Who knows that the name "Pink Impression" refers to a tulip! With his photographs, Lawrence Beck shows us a special kind of cultivation of nature. In a botanical garden, such as the Cologne Flora, these aspects (and also comparable plants) can be found very well.
