Co-Collaboration Saheli Women x White Label Project

Saheli Women is a female-led ethical fashion social enterprise that aims to financially empower women by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities. We produce clothing for fashion partners who strive to ethically co-create unique designs and spread awareness of ethical fashion and sustainable practices worldwide. The first studio was established by founder Madhu in 2015, with a team of five women and a start-up budget of $100. 9 years later, the organisation is thriving with two Saheli Women studios employing more than 150 village ladies. At the moment our studios in Bhikamkor and Kali Beri teach skills in handloom weaving, block printing, sewing, embroidery and natural dye techniques.

White Label Project is a concept store, community and service platform for impact-led design brands and artists from all over the world. With its first concept store and gallery space in Berlin, White Label Project aims to create a place for interculturalexchange, creative collaborations, and the celebration of global cultures. For this year's Berlin Fashion Week, Saheli Women will be presenting their newest fashion collection and give you an insight into their world.

The Workshop

Eco-printing is a sustainable botanical print technique that transfers a natural print onto fabric. In the eco-printing process, colour is extracted from natural plant materials, like marigold and english rose and transferred onto the fabric, secured by steam.

The beauty of eco-printing is that no piece of fabric will ever be exactly replicated. Each garment made from eco-printing is completely unique and irreproducible. The print depends on the placement of the petals as they are scattered on the fabric by hand. It is also a completely natural and slow technique that uses renewable materials and is not harmful to the environment.

All materials are provided for you to create your own unique eco printed silk scarf.
