with Anton Schulte, Amelie Bartz and Mia Göhring
The tour is dedicated to people and topics that have so far received little attention in the remembrance of National Socialism and Nazi forced labor. Under an original understanding of the word "queer" as "strange", "deviant", "peculiar" or "perverse", the focus is not on a specific persecuted group - the aim is rather to show how diverse and sometimes contradictory people were persecuted and forced to work under National Socialism.
After a brief introduction to Nazi forced labor, a diverse range of topics relating to gender, desire and sexuality will be examined. In particular, queer sexuality in concentration camps, forced sterilization, forced sexual labour, pregnancy and abortion, childbirth, relationships between forced labourers and relationships between forced labourers and Germans are addressed. It will also address the question of why these topics have long received little attention in the reappraisal and remembrance process.
During the tour, we will visit various relevant sites, including the former municipal labor institute at Riebeckstraße 63, the former university children's hospital and the memorial site for the victims of Nazi "euthanasia" in Friedenspark.
