Neujahrskonzert - Molto virtuoso!

The traditional New Year's concert in Monheim am Rhein combines the best of the best: rousing music full of tempo and good humor, joyfully and energetically presented by the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, who last opened the year musically in 2023. The concert under the direction of Olivier Tardy leaves nothing to be desired: from Bedřich Smetana's fiery overture to "The Bartered Bride" to Leonard Bernstein's swinging "Candide" opener. "Mit Dampf" is the name of a polka by Eduard Strauss, and his legendary brother Johann conjures up "Viennese blood". Vittorio Monti's "Czardas" and Pablo de Sarasate's "Zigeunerweisen" with the violin soloist Tassilo Probst are completely "molto virtuoso". Anyone who can still sit still will be waiting for Josef Hellmesberger's "Devil's Dance". Presenter Markus Wallrafen, who also plays the orchestra's second violins, will guide you through the concert with unmistakable charm and wit.
