In the organizer's words:

TORNADO BASEMENT SUMMER PARTY

The new basement summer party is taking place at Import Export again this year. We have a huge program before we go into the summer break. Lots of friends, lots of bands, lots of games + hangout. Thanks to everyone who keeps coming to our show. Thanks to Import Export for giving us the opportunity to do shows. And thanks to all our friends who make music, talk about music, are obsessed with music, breathe and talk in music & drink and eat music. Ok, here's the lineup! Hochzeitskapelle + plainhead + Indirekt Grell + Blume 3000 + Hospital Meat.

About new basement

new basement is a community-oriented DIY label that documents contemporary sounds from the local scene. By sharing tangible and intangible resources, we are committed to making rare and special music more accessible - and encouraging younger generations to create, connect and question.

We also organize concerts under the name new basement pres. concerts with relevant and inspiring artists as well as educational and community events that promote exchange between young music loversand musicians.

(And here to the live program):

Wedding band

Folkloristic-elegiac rumple jazz ... that's what the members of Hochzeitskapelle call their music. Founded on the occasion of a wedding in 2012, the five musicians come from very different stylistic backgrounds. With favorite pieces found between Munich, New Orleans and Trinidad, they do what the music was probably originally created for: PLAYING in the best sense of the word, and with great intensity, intimacy and joy.

Especially when you hear the originals the wedding band is playing around with: Sun Ra, Moondog, Francoise Hardy, Jackie Mitto, Bill Wells Lee Perry, C.W. Stoneking, Lali Puna, David Lowry... A constantly expanding obscure mixture of equally suitable and rare songs, which are translated to the special instrumentation: Viola, tuba, trumpet, trombone, banjo, drums and a bit of harmonium. There is no singing, it remains instrumental, the melodies speak, or rather sing, for themselves.

plainhead

The aim was to become the loudest band in town! "Oh mother! The music isn't that loud

so loud!" But she made the inner windows vibrate, shaking them until they finally

finally broke. And in 2024, the group of friends finally gave up on their dream of becoming the Sunn O)))

of Bavaria. Because sometimes the loudest thing is just a clarinet played over an old acoustic guitar.

over an old acoustic guitar. Or maybe just that one stubborn thought in your head,

that you have to turn into a joke - to make it easier to sing in front of friends.

The first plainhead album I SPLIT MY ORGAN IN TWOS made animals talk and parents stay forever young.

stay young forever. Music plays under the trees. A stream flows to the tree house. Bears sing,

and owls glide through the wind like tiny spaceships.

Flower 3000

Miri (vocals, bass) and Bruno (guitar) met in 2015 while working for the university newspaper. They quickly realized that they shared a passion for guitar music and pop culture. As a true guitar fan, Bruno helped Miri find her first own bass - after she decided to follow in Kim Gordon's footsteps to become the "Girl in a Band". After countless conversations about fuzz pedals, inspiring bands and dense soundscapes, the time had finally come at the end of 2023: her band Blume 3000 was born. Because like a flower, a sound needs time to grow... just kidding. The duo from Munich focuses on expressing emotions through guitar effects, noise and German lyrics.

Indirekt Grell

The Rosenheim band Indirekt Grell is somehow post-punk in a classic trio line-up and yet the sound is unexpected at first. The main focus of the young group from the southern German province is on artistic expression. Anything that appeals is allowed. The lyrics are abstract and the music ranges from spherical clouds of sound to booming DIY noise. Live, it sounds floating but also catchy. Unconcretely concrete. Loud but also quiet. The contrasts are what particularly excite the band. Breaking conventions.

Hospital Meat

Hospital Meat. Wondering what that's all about? We are too. Let's find out together, because the human abyss can usually only be recognized through music. Band members Sebastian (bass and drums) and Julie (synthesizer, vocals and harmonica) share this opinion. What could be better in a friendship than transforming shared suffering into music? With the support of Arthur (bass) and Jakob and Linus from the Greislige Uhus, all this takes shape. For as Georg Büchner once wrote in his "Woyzeck": "Every human being is an abyss.
