‚New Design from Düsseldorf‘ des Fachbereichs Design der Peter Behrens School of Arts der HSD

In the organizer's words:

Second edition of 'New Design from Düsseldorf' by the Design Department of Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences will take place from June 7 - 10, 2025 at the NRW-Forum

Over 70 graduates of the Peter Behrens School of Arts show their award-winning final projects

After the great success in 2023, the exhibition 'New Design from Düsseldorf' is now taking place for the second time. More than 70 graduates nominated for the HSD PBSA Design Award from the Design Department of the Peter Behrens School of Arts at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences over the past one and a half years will present their diverse projects from the New Craft Object Design, Communication Design, Retail Design and Exhibition Design degree programs to interested visitors at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf.

The range of Bachelor's and Master's theses on show demonstrates the conceptual and technical excellence of the graduates. These are both analog and digital or in hybrid form, two or three-dimensional. On display are photographic works, illustrations, publications as book design, graphic design, video works/animations, jewelry, products, objects, installations, performances, VR/AR works, web and app design, artistic-experimental works, mixed-media works and much more.

The exhibited projects reflect current and social issues such as identity, gender, feminism, sustainability, education and science in an innovative way and using artistic and creative methods.

All selected works were chosen from over 420 projects by a jury consisting of professors, research assistants and students from the Department of Design during the last three exhibitions. These final projects are academically outstanding and show attitudes in a special way that convinced the jury.

The exhibition design is also home-made. For this, students from a seminar on "Accessibility and Sustainability" researched resource-saving materials made from hemp lime (a combination of hemp hurds and lime). This 100% natural building material has many sustainable properties and is also regionally produced, non-flammable and sound-absorbing. Stable cubes and furniture were thus created for the exhibition architecture, giving the exhibition its own aesthetic.

Visitors can look forward to many highlights during the four days of the exhibition. The exhibition will kick off on Friday evening at 6 p.m. with the opening ceremony, at which the young designers will be present. On Saturday evening, an external jury will present the HSD PBSA Design Awards to the exhibiting graduates. There will also be workshops for children and young people. A special feature: Monday is also open to visitors!

The HSD PBSA Design Award is realized with the kind support of D'ART DESIGN GRUPPE, Areal Böhler and KomKuK of the state capital Düsseldorf.
