Ukrainian poetry strikes to the core and allows us to physically feel what it tells us. However, Ukrainian poets today are not only active in literature. Some are directly involved in relief operations on the front line, risking their lives in the process. Some do not return.

Among them is the young, charismatic poet Victoria Amelina, whose most impressive poems we present here. Special space is given to the works of Peace Prize winner Serhij Zhadan, which have been written since the start of the war in 2014. Initially silenced after the start of the full-scale invasion, completely new poems by him were published in German in November 2024 under the title "Chronik des eigenen Atems". And we can also experience the great creative power of Ukrainian poetry in a number of other Ukrainian poets.

Jan Uplegger works as a freelance actor, speaker and theater maker in Berlin and Leipzig. His focus is on the adaptation of contemporary historical material for the stage. He can also be heard as a narrator for Deutschlandfunk and in numerous audio books.

Viktoria Leléka is a composer, singer and founder of the band LELÉKA, which has been combining traditional and contemporary music since 2016. Viktoria composes for various instrumental ensembles, produces and experiments with electronic music.
