NICHTSEATTLE

NICHTSEATTLE is the brainchild of Berlin singer-songwriter Katharina Kollmann, who has been releasing German-language music under the name Nichtseattle since 2017.

Katharina Kollmann writes lyrical, gentle rock songs that are influenced by grunge, indie and folk. On this musical foundation, her lyrical texts develop a gentle force that often deal with the tension between personal feelings and social issues. Her lyrics reveal a politically minded artist who, with her intimate storytelling, ignores the separation between the private and the political, or rather deliberately does away with it, thus establishing herself as a critical and touching voice that has long been missing in German indie music.

She released her first album "Wendekid" (2019) on her own in 2022. Her second album, entitled "Kommunistenlibido", saw the light of day on the established Staatsakt label and brought her much-deserved media attention. Her latest double album "Haus", released in April 2024, now continues her path stringently, both lyrically and musically. Also released on Staatsakt, "Haus" contains 12 new songs that she recorded with her band and a choir. 12 new songs from Prekariaẗt, with lyrics about life under one roof in a shared house, and about the solidarity that is necessary and desirable in this house, in this life. Social issues have rarely been addressed more touchingly and tenderly.
