After graduating, Nicolás spent four years in Barcelona, immersing himself in a variety of musical styles, including salsa, bolero, Latin American music, bossa nova, pop, funk and, above all, jazz. He performed regularly in important jazz venues in the city and at the same time taught guitar and music theory at private schools. In 2017, Nicolás went on a tour of 13 cities in Colombia, invited by the Banco de la República. That year, he recorded his fourth live album with outstanding Colombian jazz musicians. The following year, he obtained his bachelor's degree in music from the University of Antioquia.

In 2019, Nicolás was invited to the Jazz Camp Festival in the coffee region of Colombia, and later that year he moved to Berlin.
