The new migrant middle class: Reading with Betiel Berhe:
Betiel Berhe reads from her book "Nie mehr leise: The new migrant middle class".
From migrant working-class child to successful academic: Betiel Berhe uses her own biography and other life stories to show how difficult social advancement is and the subtle differences that never disappear. Nevertheless, society is changing and a new migrant middle class is growing within it, which opposes structural classism and racism and is committed to intersectionality.
Betiel Berhe is an economist, activist, author and co-founder of the Social Justice Institute in Munich. Her work focuses on the connection between "race and class" in the German context.
