Nils Mönkemeyer gestaltet Musethica-Violakonzert: Eintritt frei

In the organizer's words:

Nils Mönkemeyer will take up his new professorship at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin in 2025 - and is ringing in his new position with a Musethica session. The internationally successful violist will once again be a tutor for Musethica. This time he is organizing the concert week in Berlin together with three students from his viola class. Participation in the Musethica training program offers the young musicians the opportunity to gain valuable learning and performance experience - always under the guidance of their mentor Nils Mönkemeyer. This week, for example, they will visit a refugee shelter, a center against exclusion and poverty in Kreuzberg, a retirement home in Pankow, the Alexianer St. Hedwig Hospital and a school with a special educational focus.

The young musicians:
Denis Valishin
Martta Kunnolla
Zeyang Kan

At the end of the concert week, the musicians will play a public concert on Friday, April 4 . We cordially invite you to attend. Admission is free of charge. Registration is not necessary.

About Musethica:
Musethica is a training method that combines the development of young musicians with social commitment. Within a week, musicians play concerts in various social institutions: from neighborhood centers and refugee shelters, hospices and senior residences to clinics and prisons. Musethica concerts are primarily aimed at people who do not have the opportunity to attend a concert due to their life situation. Musethica thus creates performance opportunities and learning spaces for musicians and at the same time promotes social participation. You can find more information at germany.musethica.org.

About Nils Mönkemeyer:
Artistic brilliance and innovative programming are his trademarks: Nils Mönkemeyer's programs range from premiere recordings of original viola literature from the 18th century to modern music and his own arrangements. The internationally successful violist has worked with conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Joana Mallwitz, Kent Nagano and Simone Young. As a soloist, he performs with renowned orchestras including the London Philharmonic, the Tokyo Symphony and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
Teaching and social commitment are also very important to Mönkemeyer: he founded the chamber music festival "Klassik für Alle" with Caritas Bonn and is a tutor at Musethica for the second time. At the end of 2024, he was named University Teacher of the Year by the German University Association.
