Bastian Schneider reads from The Love of Corals

"What concerns you more: the disappearance of the glaciers or that of your own youth?" asks one of the texts in Petra Piuk and Bastian Schneider's book "Die Liebe der Korallen". In times that are much more often characterized by their abundance, sensory overload and permanent excessive demands, disappearance often seems to play a subordinate role. It fluctuates between long-known horror stories and very personal losses that are quickly forgotten in the hectic pace of everyday life.

This is why Petra Piuk and Bastian Schneider have launched an investigative project to observe the present: In prose miniatures, aphorisms, observations, short stories, minute essays and poems, they survey the different varieties of disappearance that become apparent.

NIMM PLATZ am Neumarkt is a joint project of Cologne's cultural administration and the independent cultural scene, with contributions from the University of Music and Dance (HfMT) and the Academy of Media Arts (KHM).
