Christina Bacher reads from Die Letzten hier. Cologne in social lockdown

Places like Cologne's Neumarkt are where everyone normally meets - travelers, junkies, homeless people, street workers, young and old. But what happens if a pandemic suddenly breaks out and a lockdown is declared? Then only those who have no home will be left. Cologne-based journalist Christina Bacher, editor-in-chief of the street magazine DRAUSSENSEITER, has written a book with people from the streets about how homeless people have experienced the coronavirus pandemic in Cologne. In addition to texts by those affected themselves, the book "Die Letzten hier - Köln im sozialen Lockdown" also takes stock: Which structures of the help system have proven their worth? What worked well, what didn't? How can we prevent some people in need from falling through the cracks? Because one thing is certain: wherever there was a will to help, there was a way. Christina Bacher is supported by street newspaper vendors who contributed to the book.
