Johanna Dombois reads her latest Cologne short story Leuteordnung

Johanna Dombois is an author living in Cologne and Athens. In addition to essays, literary reportages and documentaries, she is increasingly writing long texts in short form: miniatures, short stories, microtexts. 2020 nominated for the German Literature Prize for Critical Short Texts for her essay Flüchtlingsode from the prose volume Rettungswesen (Parasitenpresse, Cologne 2018), 2023 Alfred Döblin Scholarship from the Akademie der Künste Berlin.

In her current book project Bedachte und Unbedachte she portrays people, spaces and journeys on the subject of shelter and homelessness, nest building and housing shortages. At 'Nimm Platz' at Cologne's Neumarkt, she will read from her latest miniatures, including Von der Frau, die nicht obdachlos ist; Vom Mann, der aus einer Bushaltestelle ein Kleiderschrank machte; Leibchen; Bettler aus Galiläa; Ukrainische Jugendliche bei Rewe; Der Vogel; Ode für die Frau, deren Haus in ein Loch fiel; Es war einmal ein Mensch.
