Maren Gottschalk reads from Frida

Frida Kahlo is the most famous painter in the world, her works are part of Mexico's cultural heritage and her iconic self-portraits are unique.
In her novel biography FRIDA, historian, author and journalist Maren Gottschalk sheds light on her time in New York and Paris in 1938/39, which marked decisive turning points in her life. During this time, Frida experienced the low point of her marriage to the famous painter Diego Rivera, but with her art she was heading for the high point of her career to date: the city's art circles celebrated her, Frida satisfied her hunger for life and entered into affairs, for example with the photographer Nickolas Muray.
Frida Kahlo also conquered the art scene in Paris and met personalities such as Pablo Picasso and Wassily Kandinsky.
Frida Kahlo achieves her artistic breakthrough - she is finally seen as an artist in her own right: powerful, expressive and inspiring.
