NIMM PLATZ - Kölner Literatursommer mit Stan Lafleur

Stan Lafleur reads from Grau as part of the Cologne Summer of Literature at NIMM PLATZ

For many years, the Köllektiv A. P. Petermann has been researching for and about shades of gray in Cologne's smallest district, Mauenheim, digging up well over 2000 of them, meticulously listing them and comparing them essayistically with the gray of the rest of the world. A literary summary of these activities is provided by Grau, published as a book byparasitenpresse (Cologne 2023):

"Complementary color, balancing color, half-color, non-color or color that includes all others? Science has not yet reached a consensus on this. Michel Pastoureau and Dominique Simonet claim that grey has "almost all the characteristics of a real color", a large number of nuances, is good for other colors and allows the "most subtle cameos" (...): "It has no references, the word is old (...) and it has a double symbolism. It reminds us of sadness, melancholy, boredom, old age; but in a time when old age was not so devalued, it referred on the contrary to wisdom, abundance and knowledge.""
