Silvan Strauss x Salomea
ENDERN
When it was founded, the niq collective set itself the goal of creating a networking and exchange platform for Munich musicians and at the same time establishing a connection to the national scene for jazz and improvised music. niq wants to strengthen the visibility of Munich artists both in the city and beyond, promote exchange and share knowledge.
With the newly created concert format niq/exchange, a major public concert will take place for the first time on May 27, 2025 in the Black Box at Fat Cat (formerly Gasteig). At the invitation of the collective, Hamburg drummer Silvan Strauß and his band as well as feature artist Salomea will perform. They will share the stage with the progressive Munich band Endern, who will open the evening with the first set. The music of Silvan Strauß and ENDERN reflects the breadth of the scene and opens up sound spaces that encourage new associations and approaches. The niq kollektiv also aims to give space to this openness towards a wide variety of trends and directions.
What is special about this format is that, as the name niq/exchange suggests, the focus is on musical exchange. The transitions between the acts are fluid. Specifically, there will be a joint set by both bands in the middle of the event - what comes out of this is entirely up to the artists.
On his second album FLUKIN', Hamburg drummer Silvan Strauss returns to the rhythms and roots of acoustic jazz. Together with various guests who bring in influences from British hip-hop, electronica, neo-soul and Moroccan Gnawa music, he creates a perfectly balanced album. The result is a captivating mix of soul, dub, funk and electronic effects - light and uncomplicated, yet full of depth. In addition to his band, Strauss will be traveling to Munich with feature artist Salomea.

The ENDERN trio forges a unique synthesis of acoustic and electronic sounds that oscillate between dreamy sonic utopias and high-energy interaction. With influences from serialism, avant-garde, contemporary and classical ambient music, which they combine with the pulse of club culture, the three extraordinary musicians create a multidimensional journey that transcends conventional boundaries and fixed genre borders.

The niq collective sees itself as a networking and exchange platform for the Munich jazz and improvised music scene. niq aims to be a cross-generational, inclusive mouthpiece for new structures, processes and formats. Since the inaugural pa/niq event in summer 2023, various mini-events have been tested out in living room concerts, listening sessions and small discussion formats. In 2024, the collective founded an association, which many members have already joined and which is open to all interested parties.
For 2025, the aim is to organize a first large, public concert(niq/exchange) and continue the impulse concert series pa/niq.
