Often, the reconciliation and reconnection of the post-independence generation in some African countries comes up against the fears of their diaspora. These young people feel lost because they don't always fit into the places their parents call home. It's a very personal conflict about who they are and where they [want to] belong. In No Simple Way Home, Akuol de Mabior explores this tension through the story of a mother and her two daughters’ who return to South Sudan from exile. The mother’s mission is to safeguard her late husband’s vision for their people, family, and country while her daughters struggle to come to terms with what it means to call South Sudan home. (NS)
