Marital bliss seems perfect - Nora and Torvald Helmer have been married for eight years. Middle-class circumstances, three children and excellent career prospects for Torvald, who is to become a bank director in the new year. But first, Christmas is just around the corner and old acquaintances come to visit. Something they thought was long gone suddenly comes back to life: Years ago, when Torvald was on the verge of burnout, Nora secretly borrowed money from one of her husband's work colleagues to go on a vacation. He begins to blackmail her: Nora is to prevent Torvald's imminent dismissal. Nora becomes increasingly aware of her role in a male world that follows the laws of the market economy and not only undervalues women, but turns them into pawns of careerist interests. The house resembles a doll's house. A realization that will radically change Nora's life.

Felix Krakau's directorial work "Oedipus", based on Sophocles, can also be seen at the Kleines Haus. 145 years after its premiere in autumn 1879 under the title "Nora or A Doll's Home", the director will tell Ibsen's classic as a timeless story of emancipation. Caroline Cousin plays the role of Nora, while Sebastian Tessenow plays Torvald.
