Nora Mona Bach

In 2024, Burg alumna Nora Mona Bach was awarded the Art Prize of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, which is awarded every two years to a young artist. From May 15 to June 9, 2025, the artist will be presenting her award-winning works in a survey exhibition at the Burg Galerie im Volkspark.
Nora Mona Bach studied graphic art with Prof. Thomas Rug at the BURG from 2006 to 2012 and subsequently completed postgraduate studies with him. Her contemporary drawings look like film stills or blurred shots of places of crime and remembrance. The artist, who herself comes from the lignite mining region of Saxony, deliberately uses coal as a material against the backdrop of the energy transition.
