Norbert Dömling's Flying Spices: Jazz

This quintet is a musical pleasure project with fun in varying, interpreting and improvising sounds. Norbert Dömling's compositions are inspired by his long experience with a wide variety of musical styles, but also by observations and personal experiences. Many of the pieces are very melodic, but there are also some unwieldy themes. The most important thing, however, is the interpretation of the given material by his band members. They listen to each other intensively, communicate and bring the musical source material to life through their personal style. In 2023, Norbert Dömling was awarded the Darmstadt Music Prize. For the award ceremony concert, he put together a new band of his choice made up of musicians he holds in high esteem instead of a well-rehearsed line-up. The concert went extremely well, although there was no time for a rehearsal. Reason enough to continue with this line-up now. With: Tony Lakatos (saxophone), Stephanie Wagner (flute), Manuel Seng (piano), Andreas Neubauer (drums) and Norbert Dömling (double bass + composition).
