Born in Naples on May 31, 1970, Paolo Sorrentino was already something of a regular at the major European film festivals after his first four feature films. In his films, Sorrentino deals with the intertwining of politics and organized crime in Italy, but also portrays the upper class in a bitingly satirical way and also shows the abysses of the "dolce vita". To mark the release of his new film PARTHENOPE, we are dedicating a small retrospective to the Italian cult director in our "Best Of" series.

About the film: Jep Gambardella has experienced a lot in his life. For the successful author and respected journalist, there was hardly an experience he would have missed out on, he was out partying and surrounded himself with beautiful women. At 65, however, Jep is an embittered man who not only mourns his youth and the good old days, but also love. So he embarks on a melancholy and beautiful journey through his own memories. (j.b.)
