Forced sterilization, supposed "mercy killing", "unworthy life". The play #nutzloseEsser, by the theater group of the bhz Stuttgart e.V., deals with these topics. The play is an adaptation of "Erinnerung 2000 by Katja and Klaus Beer" and tells of the fates of the 70,000 people with physical, mental and psychological disabilities who were murdered during the Third Reich as part of the so-called "Aktion T4". Although this inhumanity took place over 80 years ago, the topic has not lost any of its topicality. Even today, people with disabilities are still victims of prejudice, discrimination and reservations. In times when right-wing extremist positions are on the rise in Germany and parties such as the AfD are speaking out against anti-discrimination laws, it is very important to take a stand.
"The members of the BHZ Stuttgart theater group - the diaconal organization supports, employs, accompanies and integrates people with various disabilities - introduce themselves in short films. They talk about togetherness, respect, family, children, friendship and partnership, about travel, laughter, soccer, magic and dancing, and also about fear of war and hope for peace. And they look at the fates of people with disabilities during the National Socialist era. [...] It gets under your skin how the BHZ players, as judges and Nazi henchmen, call on sanatoriums and nursing homes to name patients who were transported in gray buses with darkened windows to killing institutions such as Grafeneck, Hartheim or Hadamar. [...] How did Paolo de Feo put it so impressively in the stage lights? "Why didn't anyone say anything? Man, people!""
