On December 7 and 8, 2023, the doors will open to the big Oberschönen Christmas Market. Probably the most beautiful indoor Christmas market in Berlin will once again take place in the spectacular MaHalla (former historic industrial site). There are over 50 stalls selling unique handmade items - from clothing, jewelry, ceramics and illustration art to home-grown plants, photos and fine art. Once the most beautiful illustration has been selected and stowed away in the newly acquired neighborhood bag, it's probably time to fill your belly. Caterers from the Schöneweider Kiez will be providing food and drink.

"It is a pleasure for us to take up the idea of a large Christmas market in Schöneweide again this year. We will build on the success of previous years. We are artists, craftspeople, musicians and cultural organizers ourselves - and we want to network, share our love for our work and offer everyone the opportunity to have access to art and culture. Many of the exhibiting artisans and performing artists are joining us for the first time, while some have been with us since the very first event. Together, we are looking forward to a colorful audience and many new faces at the OBERSCHÖENEN WEIHNACHTSMARKT" say Cielo Faccio and Sofie Müller from SchöneVibes Kollektiv e.V.

A colorful cultural program

This year, the SchöneVibes Kollektiv e.V. is once again organizing this very popular event in the neighbourhood. In addition to the arts and crafts market, they are organizing a varied cultural program: the Finnish bluesman Pan Salmenhaara, the Brazilian guitarist Carlos de Souza, Zenobia Theater, the choir "Sing! Sing!", Entourage Berlin with a fire show, Anaelle Molinario with artistry and comedy, and the big band "Just Mad". There will also be the old Berlin organ grinder Horst Bölsdorf, fairytale hour with Violeta Rivera and illuminating walk acts by Poemas de Luz.

The Oberschöner Weihnachtsmarkt is organized and supported by SchöneVibes Kollektiv e.V., a non-profit neighbourhood initiative from Schöneweide, which is committed to connecting people from the neighbourhood and promoting environmental awareness, education, social issues and cultural mediation. The association is funded by the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing as part of the pilot project "Oberschöneweide - Combining Tradition and Modernity" in the FEIN - Voluntary Engagement in Neighborhoods program by the social space-oriented planning coordination (OE SPK) of the Treptow-Köpenick district office.
