The sails have been set since 2018, when OCEANS began combining modern death metal with 90s nu-metal and post-rock - a dark journey into the abyss. The German quartet set out to end the stigma around mental health with music that "grabs you right where it hurts the most" (Vampster). Without ever having played a single concert, they signed to NUCLEAR BLAST in 2019 and released their EP *Into the Void*, followed by the highly acclaimed debut album *The Sun and the Cold* in 2020, hailed as "one of the most promising and polarizing heavy metal debuts you'll hear in a while" (Outburn). This debut sends them on their first major tour supporting Lord of the Lost and Equilibrium.
