ODD OKODDO mit Ogoya Nengo. Durchlüften 2025 - Open Air im Schlüterhof. Konzerte, DJ-Sets

In the organizer's words:

Free, outdoors and under palm trees: this summer, the DURCHLÜFTEN music festival will once again transform the Humboldt Forum's large Schlüterhof courtyard into a lively meeting place for sound, rhythm and culture.

Over four weekends, music from all over the world will radiate from the stage: from the raw energy of Mexican cumbia punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan dodo blues, from the electrifying syncopation of Congolese soukous to the powerful messages of Afrofuturist big bands.

Japanese folk with a Caribbean influence, soulful jazz, hip-hop and the joy and resilience of the Frafra gospel round off this celebration of sound - boundless, multi-perspective and irresistibly danceable!

ODD OKODDO with Ogoya Nengo (Kenya, Germany)

The Kenya-based duo ODD OKODDO - Olith Ratego and Sven Kacirek - combine avant-garde electronic rhythms with the rich folk song traditions of the Luo, creating a sound that Ratego calls Dodo Blues. Their latest album Negore expands their hypnotic sound with ten haunting compositions and has been praised by NPR, BBC Radio and Bandcamp, among others. The music thrives on the seamless dialog between Ratego's haunting vocals and Kacirek's multi-layered soundscapes and revolves around themes of love, fate and resilience. With guest contributions from KMRU and Angel Bat Dawid, Negore combines introspective and dynamic elements without losing sight of their distinctive sound language.

ODD OKODDO are known for their fluid, ever-evolving live performances and have wowed audiences at festivals such as Nyege Nyege and Kilifi New Year. As part of their 2025 European tour, they will be joined by the legendary Ogoya Nengo, the revered queen of Luo music. With a career spanning decades, Nengo's powerful voice has shaped traditional Luo ceremonies - from weddings to wrestling matches. Now in her 80s, she still embodies the soul of her cultural heritage and brings an electrifying presence to the stage.
