Ulysses returns to the Staatsoper stage on April 11, 2025. The rousing ballet about the cunning mythical hero occupies a prominent position in John Neumeier's oeuvre: "As has often been the case, it was the special music that unconsciously inspired me to create a completely different choreographic language". Embedded in the haunting composition by George Couroupos and the striking set by Yannis Kokkos, the piece deals with the themes of war, the search for home and self - themes that are more relevant today than ever due to global conflicts and questions of belonging and identity. An unforgettable experience that transports the audience into the vastness of Odysseus' odyssey and sharpens our view of our own world.
