ODYSSEE - Musik der Metropolen

In the organizer's words:

The five musicians from Ketekalles guarantee an explosion of energetic rhythms paired with passionate songs. The quintet from Spain, Chile, Venezuela and Argentina stands for a raw rock and punk sound that blends soulfully with Catalan rumba, flamenco and soul to create an unmistakable amalgam. Ketekalles harks back to the early mestizo movement in Spain, which continues to inspire audiences today with its political ambitions and exuberant joy of playing.

ODYSSEE: Music of the Metropolises has always stood out among the country's world music festivals. The road festival combines four open-air stages with twelve concerts across the region and is once again proving to have a good feel for exciting urban sounds this summer. From July 9 to 26, fans of global music are invited to celebrate the diversity of current sounds, as always free of charge! The invited bands not only guarantee rousing dancefloor rhythms, but also take a stand against exclusion and violence in their lyrics.

ODYSSEE: Musik der Metropolen is sponsored by the Regional Culture Program NRW and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia; the festival has reliable partners at its side for the last time; media partner WDR COSMO also provides support.

The community of organizers, consisting of Altstadtschmiede in cooperation with the Institut für Kulturarbeit in Recklinghausen, Kulturzentrum Pelmke e.V. in Hagen, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr in Mülheim an der Ruhr and Bahnhof Langendreer e.V. in Bochum, is doing everything it can to make the finale of the road festival ODYSSEE: Musik der Metropolen an unforgettable experience. Please note the following information when visiting the Freilichtbühne Wattenscheid: The Freilichtbühne Wattenscheid allows one 0.5-liter PET bottle of water per person at the three Odyssee concerts. Bags and rucksacks larger than A4 format, animals, glass in any form (bottles, glasses etc.), weapons (dangerous objects, umbrellas, fire, fireworks etc.) as well as food and other drinks are not permitted. Your bags/backpacks will be checked by security staff at the entrance.
