Summer Cologne:
ODYSSEY - OF WAITING AND LONGING, OF LOVE AND FRENZY.

The NN Theater Köln throws itself passionately into the story freely adapted from Homer. With a rapid change of roles, Rhenish humor and acting depth.

The second oldest saga in the western world, written around 800-700 BC, offers far more than the well-known adventure story of Odysseus' perilous journey home in the Trojan War. It is the story of strong women, fragile men, suffering, guilt and courage. It is peppered with fascinating parallels to modern times: brutal rulers, gender (in)justice, inventiveness, longing and, above all, hope that difficult times will return to normal, even if there can be no real return to the old. So let's head for new shores and develop the modern together!

The NN Theater Köln invites you on a 10-year odyssey from Troy to Ithaca. And poses the question: What is free will, what is destiny? Odysseus may fail as a hero, but as a human being he can be made approachable again with all his weaknesses and strengths, holding up a mirror to us and our time.
