Glen Rubsamen and the Class of Rita Mcbride

For the past 22 years, Prof. Rita McBride has always offered a film program on her class trips and rented a local cinema for a matinee screening for this purpose. In Palermo, Athens, Rio de Janeiro, Cádiz, Tokyo and Los Angeles, she showed films that were directly linked to the theme of "wandering" artists.

Films inevitably transport the audience into the world of their locations - but the body remains in the place of performance. When this place is simultaneously experienced as foreign, a complex constellation emerges in which the familiar and the foreign intertwine. Prof. McBride now looks back on this "odyssey" for the film workshop. Together with Glen Rubsamen, she will give a short introduction to each film.

The Odyssey series presents a diverse programme consisting of classic formats such as exhibitions, performances and screenings, but also yoga classes and karaoke evenings, all of which are co-organized and designed by former students of Prof. Rita McBride's class.
