Discover new works from our collection: In Schaulager, the "Archive of the Present", a fine selection of the 2024 sponsored acquisitions will be on display from February. Every year, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia purchases works by promising young artists from NRW. The acquisition program to support local artists was launched in 1948 and continues to this day. The resulting collection now comprises around 5,000 works from the beginnings of modern art in the region to the immediate present and is stored, researched and exhibited at Kunsthaus NRW Kornelimünster.

The new acquisitions in 2024 will be shown in collection and themed exhibitions over the next few years. From February, visitors will be able to discover some of them exclusively as part of a guided tour of our Open Depot. The tour will also provide an insight into the very first sponsored acquisitions, which were made in the post-war years of 1948, 1949 and 1950. The artists supported at that time included Hann Trier, Bruno Goller, Emil Schumacher and Karl Otto Götz. Names that went down in art history and became known far beyond North Rhine-Westphalia.
