The Kummers have a problem: their funeral home is no longer running. Fortunately, there is still Grandma Edith, whose pension the family can live on until Edith gently passes away one morning. What now? To ensure that Grandma's pension continues to flow, the two men want to pretend to those around them that Edith is still alive.
But suddenly Werner Grube, the most successful mortician in town, turns up and wants to set his daughter Kerstin up with Karsten. But even before they meet, the two young people refuse to be paired up. Now the successful mortician is at his wit's end. When he learns that the Kummers' property does not belong to Elisabeth but to Grandma Edith, he spontaneously offers to take over the argumentative senior citizen for 75,000 euros. This offer is too tempting, and so Elisabeth finally comes up with the idea that Karsten should take on the role of Grandma.
