OnCe – Festival | Imitation of clouds & Swap

As part of this year's onCe Festival for Instant Composition, two performances by renowned artists will be shown every evening for one week. The program allows the long-standing tradition of dance improvisation, for which Freiburg is internationally renowned, to blossom.

Imitation of clouds
Although one part of me clings to every form as a life raft, another mercilessly dismantles the moment. The plot resembles a battle between the red and white queen. One names, defines, makes solid. The other willingly gives up the security of form and scatters sparks into the night sky. Clouds drift by.

Swap
This piece explores the interplay of voice, sound and movement through the ancient concept of the four humors, symbols of physical balance and different temperaments from the Greek and Roman traditions. It emphasizes the inseparability of body and voice in the creation of meaning, aesthetics and identity.

Shinichi Iova-Koga is the Artistic Director of inkBoat. He is the editor of the book 95 Rituals, a tribute to Anna Halprin, and a contributing writer to The Routledge Companion to Butoh Performance. Shinichi is an Authorized Action Theater™ teacher.

Maria Colusi, dancer, choreographer has created choreography for dance,theater and opera.
