Once Upon a Time in a Forest

In the organizer's words:

Minka, Ida and Otto are united by a common mission: to preserve Finland's forests. Organized in the climate protection group Extinction Rebellion, the film accompanies the three of them to the occupation of forest paths, on the streets of Helsinki and in discussions with the powers that be in the forestry industry. And it becomes clear that this is not just about climate protection, but about a deep connection with the forest and all species, from trees to lichens, that belong to it. And it seems as if the activists are part of this ecosystem: they swim in forest lakes, climb trees and are in constant resonance with each other - for the preservation of this world and the world beyond.

With her visually powerful film, Virpi Suutari creates a warm and haunting homage to the protectors of the forest. The film was awarded the DOK Audience Award and the CPH:DOX AWARD.
