On the roof of the Balkans with the mountain friends

The mountain friends embark on a new adventure: the three of them are heading to the Balkans! They want to discover real wilderness and pristine and undeveloped mountain regions for themselves, get to know countries that are completely unknown to them and meet women whose realities of life are far removed from their own. To do this, they are taking on part of the "High Scardus Trail", a three-country hiking trail. The cross-border long-distance hiking trail leads through North Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania, crossing six national parks, five mountain ranges and a plateau that locals affectionately call "Little Mongolia". Along the way, the mountain lovers can expect untouched, quiet paths, pathless mountain ridges and lonely highlands - in the midst of the home of lynxes, bears and wolves. They hike for ten days on the award-winning trail, covering a good 10,000 meters in altitude and 175 kilometers.

The mountain friends were already guests on the summer stage of the Kultur: Haus Dacheröden in 2023 and presented their book "Vom Gipfelglück und anderen Abenteuern". Now they are returning as part of the Dacheröden on Tour series - a series of events that regularly invites people to talk about their diverse travels and experiences abroad. Be it daring adventures, profound encounters or inspiring experiences - these talks bring the world to Erfurt and awaken the desire to discover.

Antonia Schlosser grew up in the Allgäu and always had the mountains before her eyes and in her heart. Today she lives in Munich and combines her love of the mountains as a journalist - both with the Bergfreundinnen and as presenter of Rucksackradio on Bayern 2.

Katharina Kestler left her Franconian home to be closer to the mountains in Munich. Her hobbies - mountain biking, freeriding and ski touring - fit in perfectly with her work as a freelance journalist. Perhaps one day she will be drawn to the mountains to take over a hut or alp.
