The Hedgehog in the Fog: Poetic escapes into nature from 120 years of moving image history. Short film program, moderated and musically accompanied by Daniel Kothenschulte from 9 pm with exhibition visit and bar, film starts at 10.30 pm A statue has even been erected in Kiev to the most famous hedgehog in film history. Yuri Norstein's famous animated film from 1975 is one of the most beautiful things to experience in the cinema: The little hedgehog's journey of self-discovery through the cloud forest is at the center of a cinematic wandering, about the artistic appropriation of natural spaces. It is not far from the earliest English "Alice in Wonderland" film from 1902 to Snow White's surreal escape through a living forest. The Icelandic video artist Gabriela Fridriksdottir, known for her collaboration with Björk, literally merges with the natural spaces in her work when she transforms herself into surreal hybrid creatures. Her most recent works include "Umbra", with which the graduates of the Cologne Academy of Media Arts, Florian G. M. Gischer and Johannes Krell, won a Golden Berlinale Bear in 2019. In optical phenomena in nature, such as a solar eclipse, they discover early forms of cinema, natural projections in which you can lose yourself while watching, as if you were in outer space yourself.
