Cocó is eight years old and doesn't understand why everyone calls her by her birth name, Aitor. The nickname Cocó doesn't feel quite so clearly wrong, but it doesn't feel right either. On summer vacation in the Basque Country, the child confides her grief to relatives and friends. But how does a mother, who herself is still struggling with ambivalent parental legacies, deal with her child's search for identity?

The director takes more than one point of view and respects the fact that gender identity is something incredibly complex. And she addresses a perhaps less obvious aspect of gender transition: one's own mentality...
