Martin (Mads Mikkelsen) is a teacher at a school. He feels old and tired. His pupils and their parents want him to resign because they are not satisfied with the quality of his teaching. Encouraged by a blood alcohol level theory, Martin and his three colleagues Tommy (Thomas Bo Larsen), Nikolaj (Magnus Millang) and Peter (Lars Ranthe) embark on an experiment: they want to keep their blood alcohol level constant at 0.5 per mille in everyday life by drinking alcohol.

The results are initially positive. Martin enjoys teaching again and his relationship with his wife Trine (Maria Bonnevie) is rekindled. But the negative effects are not long in coming...
