Poetry slam, the modern poetry competition, is the most popular form of cabaret in Germany. In Stuttgart, poetry slam is better assimilated than Kehrwoche and more popular than photos from Schlossplatz. Writers of all kinds meet on stage and perform their self-penned pieces. The carefully selected line-up presents a brilliant smorgasbord of poetry slam styles: poetry, rap, cabaret, storytelling, beatbox, comedy and spoken word.
At the Open Air Poetry Slam in the Werkstatthaus, the format is celebrated in a loving way. In a cozy atmosphere, the audience decides the outcome of the evening and chooses the winner by applause.
