Who is Chuck? The world is ending, California is sinking into the sea, the Internet is collapsing - but in a small American town, gratitude prevails above all for Charles "Chuck" Krantz, an ordinary accountant whose face smiles kindly at everyone from billboards and on television. Who is this man that nobody really seems to know? A mystery that goes back a long way ... to his childhood with his grandmother, who passed on her endless love of dancing to him, and his grandfather, who initiated him into the secrets of bookkeeping and was determined to protect him from those of the locked attic. A mystery that raises one question above all: can the fate of one person change the whole world?
