Artist Meets Archive #4 – OPEN ARCHIVE Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum

In the organizer's words:

https://rautenstrauch-joest-museum.de/Veranstaltungskalender

During the Photoszene Festival, you have the opportunity to get to know the archives and collections of Artist Meets Archive#4 up close!

The Cologne Cathedral Archives, the Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur, the Cologne City Museum and the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum will open their doors on 4 dates. You can expect lots of historical photographs and exciting insights into collections that are otherwise rarely on display!

Anyone who has always wanted to get to know the RJM's photographic holdings better now has the opportunity: Lucia Halder, photography officer at the RJM and curator of the exhibition, invites you to explore the collection. As the photo collection is stored in the external depot, we will meet in the museum's library where selected archive and photo boxes will be opened. Most of the RJM's 100,000 or so photographs come from colonial contexts - an important opportunity to talk about the traces of colonial heritage.
