Open Lab Abend: Futures Prototyping

In the organizer's words:

Learning to shape the future

The future is uncertain - but we can make it tangible. At the "Futures Prototyping" open lab evening, you will learn how we can use speculative design and future artifacts to explore alternative futures and make them tangible.

Speculative design uses the method of futures prototyping for visual and material designs of possible future scenarios. They open up new perspectives, stimulate debate and help us to develop our own visions. These methods make it possible to think about possible developments in a playful way - and to actively participate in shaping the future ourselves.

In terms of content, we will address the question of what the agriculture of the future will look like and who will farm the land.
Agriculture provides us with food and shapes landscapes as well as social structures. At the same time, it is changing: new players, technologies and concepts are gaining in importance and are already shaping the image of tomorrow's agriculture today. They show how diverse the changes in agriculture are - and how important it is to think through future scenarios in concrete terms.

In this workshop, we will take a look at agriculture in 2040:
- What land will be farmed?
- How will the social and cultural role of agriculture change?
- How will the work of farmers change?

Together we will experiment with different methods, design scenarios, explore future living environments - and take our own souvenirs from the future with us as time travelers.

The event is part of the workshop series "Learning to shape futures", which takes place once a month as part of the Open Lab evening. In a total of four modules, you will learn well-founded methods of shaping the future, which you can put together to create your own individual future method kit.
