Open Lab Abend: Futures Thinking - Zukünfte gestalten lernen

In the organizer's words:

We can't predict the future, but we can find out how we want to live in the future. At this Open Lab evening, we will show you how to do this. You will get to know the "Futures Thinking" method. This is a combination of futurology and design thinking. We will show you how to identify and evaluate trends and combine them to create desirable future scenarios.

WHAT IS AN OPEN LAB EVENING?

Every Thursday, things get creative in the lab. You will learn about methods such as design thinking or future storytelling, can try out 3D printers and laser cutters and take a look behind the scenes of the lab projects. There's something new every week.

Futures Thinking can be used in many different ways. For example, to develop an idea for a start-up, to decide on the right apprenticeship or to shine in the next university seminar with new exciting methods.

In terms of content, we will be looking at the role of raw materials in our future. We deal with raw materials every day in our everyday lives: We build our houses from them, power cars and machines with their energy, bake our bread with them and use them for our smartphones and computers. It's hard to imagine a world without raw materials. But we are facing major challenges: Our demand for raw materials is constantly increasing, extraction is damaging nature and the environment and many people are suffering from the extraction and unequal distribution of raw materials. And in the future?

In this workshop, we will be looking at circular cities of the future:

>What will the city of the future look like?
>What materials will be used for construction and how will they be recycled?
>How will the city infrastructure be used?
>Which places characterize the cityscape?

The event is part of the workshop series "Learning to shape futures", which takes place once a month as part of the Open Lab Evening. In a total of four modules, you will learn well-founded methods of shaping the future, which you can put together to create your own individual future method kit.
